It's always easier to focus on the whys - Why didn't this work? Why did they say that? Why would they DO that? And while these are valid questions that should be asked, there is also much to be said for discovering what's left.
What's left is time, ideas, options. And you may not like that that's what's left, but energy spent trying to do better for yourself, to discover a new direction, or to re-discover what you let go, is probably a better use of your time. What do you think?
