When parents, uncles, and older (and wiser) ones warn you about the people you have around you, you often think they don't know what they're talking about. Spoiler alert: they do.
It's important to have ALL sorts of friends. The ones who encourage you to let loose and have fun when you'd rather stay home and watch reality TV, the ones who study with you; the ones who push you to strive harder and inspire you. But know when to protect your goals and dreams; when the inner circle needs to get a little smaller. If you're leaving them behind (or vice versa), then there's a reason. It'll all be ok in the end. It will. As someone who holds tight to friendships, I've also learned the value of reflecting on what adds value, and what drags me down. Take time every few months to see if maybe you need to spend less time with certain people so you can stretch and grow.
