I was at the 4th edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference yesterday, and it was a fantastic experience, not only because D'banj gave an impromptu concert at the end, or 2baba (Formerly known as Tuface/2face) announced for the first time anywhere that he is now Campari's first African brand ambassador, or for the continued arguments about MOPICON, a proposed bill meant to regulate (or over-regulate/stifle) the film-making industry in Nigeria, but also because it brought together entertainers who spoke intelligently, presentations and all, about the challenges the entertainment industry faces, and how to use what we have to move the country, and its' economy, forward. I was very impressed with singer and record label co-owner Banky W, actress & filmmaker Funke Akindele and entertainer D'banj's speeches/presentations, and I love that NEC gave them a platform to show another side of them which people may otherwise not see.
Here are a couple of my tweets, and some pictures from the event below:
In all, lots of helpful information and intelligent discussions on the entertainment industry and the structures in place/needed to make it more of a force to reckon with. Well done to the organizers!
